Absolutely. I work with a lot of total beginners, intermediate screamers, and even some professional touring vocalists!

Absolutely. This is one of the most common misconceptions around the artform of screaming. There have been a handful of studies done that have proven there to be sustainable screaming techniques. However, just like any other type of vocalization, you can injure your voice through overuse or poor technique. Screaming is a niche style and it sounds quite intense, which often leads beginners to attempt screaming in ways that aren't sustainable if they don't have proper guidance or reasonable caution when they are learning, but the pros know what they are doing. They wouldn't be able to tour for months in a row, screaming for 30-45 minutes or more nearly every night if they were destroying their voice.

The rules are simple:

• If it hurts, do not keep doing it.

• When you're a beginner, keep your practice sessions short, between 10-30 minutes depending on how your voice feels.

• Rest, hydrate, and try again the next day.

I teach Monday-Thursday 10am-10pm with an hour break at 1pm and Friday 10am-7pm also with an hour break at 1pm in US central time (Nashville, TN).

I try to be flexible to accomodate people if they can't find a time that works, especially if they are in a very distant time zone. Message me if this is the case!

• 99% of my lessons are taught remotely over Discord.

• I have students from all parts of the world and my Google Calendar automatically accounts for time differences.

• I do sometimes teach lessons in person for students in Nashville, TN, USA, but I generally prefer doing them remotely.

• Each lesson is catered to individual goals and skill level.

• Most of the time in each lesson is spent doing exercises to unlock or refine distortion techniques that you want to learn. Be prepared to make lots of weird noises!

• In the 1st lesson (for beginners): Brief introduction/goal setting, vocal health and safety basics, distinguishing distortion types, and then we do a bunch of exercises to get you screaming!

I teach virtually all techniques and vocal styles that involve distortion. False cord screams, fry screams, hybrid screams, pitch screams, raspy singing, kargyraa throat singing, and lots of auxiliary techniques like tunnel throat (eg. Will Ramos), pig squeals, and many more. I generally do not teach normal singing.

Yes. I wholeheartedly believe that anyone can learn essentially any screaming technique, unless you have some kind of serious vocal injury or medical condition. However, everyone sounds different, has different natural strengths/weaknesses, and learns at their own pace. I nearly gave up on fry screaming many times, but now they are nearly effortless for me to do, and are a major part of my sound.

No, but if you have one, that's great. Simply a phone or a laptop works just fine most of the time.

I first started when I was 16 (in 2012), but guitar remained my primary instrument and focus for many years. I learned a few screaming techniques for fun, but didn't take the craft seriously until around 2019. Now I front my band Dissonation and have been vocal coaching full time since January of 2025!

• Like most harsh vocalists, I learned by making weird noises in the car until I liked the way it sounded and didn't feel discomfort. Once I started to get serious about my technique, I supplemented my experiential knowledge by researching information online with hours of YouTube videos and loads of articles on the subject, as well as networking with other affluent vocal coaches in the space to reinforce my knowledge.

• The science behind harsh vocalization is largely understudied. There are no specific degrees for it, and the techniques were disregarded or outright rejected by experts for a long time. Only in the past decade or so has more reliable information become available, but many things about it are still being discovered.
